After the Ice Storm

Here's our latest work.  We tore down the ceiling of the laundry room.  They couldn't stay, a lot of them were falling down already.

I made sure to save a bunch of the tiles I pulled down.  There were actually some that looked pretty new.

I need them to fix the living room ceiling which has a big water damaged spot.  Actually most of the rest of the living room ceiling is in pretty good shape except for this spot.
Here's some pics of the yard showing the damage from the ice storm.

Colby found himself a good job.  He enjoys tearing down wallpaper apparently.

And a little bonus pic, my quilt I just finished for our couch.

Updates......

There's been a lot of work going on this week at the house.
Rob tore out the closet in our bedroom.  Underneath all the paneling is drywall!  So we are working on pulling all the paneling down and then we can put new drywall up over the old for now.
Now that's a lot of junk to get rid of.
The best news is that we finally have heat!  The furnace is in!  It was nice to actually have heat in the house for once.  I got 2 rooms all vacuumed out.

New duct work in the basement.
Rob also got the paneling tore out of the laundry room.  There was plywood behind it????? Guess it will be easy enough to put drywall over that.

This is a view of the back side of the barn

And this is the north end of it.

Goodbye to the carpet

We finally have the carpet out.  What a job it was.  I think it's probably best that the house doesn't have any heat yet.  I don't want to know how much worse the carpets would have smelled.

This is the living room.  I was really hoping we would find some nice floors under the carpet, but......no, just another ugly mess.

This is the family room.  The carpet in here was extra stringy and the kids had fun with that.  They also found an old garden rake out in the weeds by the barn, Bonus!

There was just some sort of particle board under this carpet.  Nothing wonderful.

Are you ready?  Yes, this is what a house full of carpet looks like........

First things first.....

Time to tear out the awful carpet!  All the carpet in the house has got to go.  It's dirty, stained, smelly and there is poo on some of it even.  I doubt we will ever buy carpet again.

The kids really liked helping out.

We got the entire upstairs done and part of one of the downstairs bedrooms.  There were some pretty nice wood floors in one of the bedrooms.  The other one is just junky subfloor.

We bought it!

Here it is!  2000 square feet, 4 bed rooms, no furnace, no hot water heater, needs a new well, possible animal living somewhere inside......  We love it!
